“Bekal - A small town in Kasaragod district on the West coast of Kerala shares its borders with Mangalore, Karnataka. Sun kissed beaches, the regal fort, splendid hills, meandering rivers and the rich cultural tradition of this land makes it an enchanting destination. Bekal as a name for our restaurant aptly describes our cuisines-an assortment of favorite dishes from the lands of Kerala and Mangalore. According to Bekal Rama Nayak, a local Kannada writer the name Bekal is derived from the word Baliakulam, meaning Big Palace. The term Baliakulam got corrupted as Bekulam and later as Bekal. Bekal Fort remains the largest and best-preserved fort in Kerala. History and legend are interwoven together in Bekal, particularly regarding its antiquity. Bekal is our sincere endeavor to recreate cuisines from both Kerala & Mangalore. Enjoy the culinary journey while we present you kitchen treasures from these regions.
